10.9 – FFLs

FFLs

Your FFL

Ensure that you have a copy of your FFL (valid, not expired) posted conspicuously (visible on a wall).

Acquired FFLs

Confirm you have a copy of the driver’s license or FFL for all acquired firearms.

This is not a legal requirement, and it should not be in the records that the ATF inspects.  However, it is a VERY good idea to have all of these.  If during an inspection, showing the ATF one of these records will help a situation, then go get it and show it! If it will hurt, you might want to keep it to yourself.

Disposed FFLs

It is a requirement that you have a copy of an FFL before you transfer a firearm to another FFL.  It’s not a requirement to keep them forever, but you should anyway!  After all, how are you going to prove that you had a copy when you transferred the firearm?

Also, I recommend having a copy of a driver’s license for all individuals in your own records.

If you keep a copy of proof that you used FFL EZ Check (which we recommend!), this is a good time to confirm those too.

If you’re missing an FFL copy, reach out to them and get a copy!
