5.11 – Adding / Removing RPs

From time to time, it may become necessary to add or remove an RP from your FFL.

Both are easy to do – and you should add AT LEAST one other RP besides yourself to your FFL. This helps in case you are out of town when an inspection happens, it helps to maintain accountability, and it helps with your FFLs continuity should something ever happen.

Adding RPs

To add an RP, have the person fill out Part B of the ATF Form 7 – Application for an FFL, and submit their fingerprints and photos to the ATF.

The RP will send their materials to the ATF at:

ATF / Attn: FFLC

244 Needy Rd.

Martinsburg, West Virginia 25405

Additionally, a letter must be included from a current RP explaining that you want the applicant RP added to your FFL. The ATF cannot process the application without written consent from a current RP.

If the RP already has fingerprints and photos on file because they are an RP on another FFL, then you may omit them from the packet and include a letter asking the ATF to use the fingerprints and photos already on file.

Removing RPs

In order to remove an RP, all that is needed is a letter signed by a current RP (preferably an owner/officer of the company) asking the ATF to remove the person as an RP from the FFL.

You should maintain a list of who is an RP, on each FFL you have, to help keep track.
